Gregge Bergman - Rainbow Tornado from Fancy Cookies

get in the car, roll up a blunt, take off your shirt.

Rainbow Tornado sound like they are eternally paying homage to the 90s with their old school-sounding reverb and lo-fi recordings; thus I feel nostalgic for no good reason when listening to them. With Modest Mouse-esque polyphonic guitar lines and restless vocals, they are lovely fun to listen to.

I bet they liked space jam. Fucking space jam, man.

Crash - Heavy Vegetable from Frisbie

For the past few months, Rob Crow and all his projects have dominated my ears. This is Heavy Vegetable, the first of his projects I heard, and now love.

They’re an amalgam of pop, math-rock and proggy sensibilities, which leads to a real broad spectrum of sound. They unexpectedly shift into dissonance and odd time signatures often, but tease with repetition across the journey of a song, and always manage to keep your attention.

Heavy Veg is great if you have a short attention span. From the histogram below (Figure 1), we can see that the Track length for all tracks (bar one) is below 180 seconds (3 minutes), with most even falling under 120 seconds (two minutes).

So yeah, listen to them innit. This album was released in 1995. ain’t that shit just amazing?

p.s
I think from now on I’ll steer away from the wanky 20-page descriptions of a band and just say the most necessary. That way I might actually post some music.

p.p.s
I also might start editing multiple songs from an album together into one track to upload to get more of a range of sounds.

bye.
